Utilizing NeuroScience Lab, this test shows levels of stress and brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. This test provides insight on adrenal health, the effects of stress on your health, and potential causes of neurological dysfunction such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, fatigue, Parkinson’s Disease, addictions, and many others.
Urinary and salivary Neuro/Adrenal testing is a quick, simple, and cost-effective way to assess stress levels and brain chemistry imbalances. We at Pure Health utilize NeuroScience Labs to measure your stress hormones (cortisol, epinephrine, norepinephrine) and neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, GABA, glutamate, and more). This information, if considered and interpreted with other diagnostics can provide valuable and actionable information to help you improve your health and quality of life.
Who Would Benefit?
Neuro/Adrenal testing can provide insight on most neurological and stress related symptoms and conditions including:
- Depression/Low Affect
- Anxiety/Panic Attacks
- Fatigue/Low Motivation
- Headaches
- Chronic Stress
- Sleep Disturbances/Insomnia
- Weight Loss Challenges/Food Cravings
- ADHD/Attention/Memory Challenges
- Addictions
What Does it Show?
Using a 4 point saliva sample assessment, we are able to assess cortisol and DHEA levels which indicate your levels of stress and overall adrenal health. A low cortisol level is indicative of adrenal fatigue while elevated levels indicate adrenal overdrive (chronic stress). DHEA is considered the “Mother Steroid” because it is a precursor to all the sex hormones including testosterone and estrogen. The indicated levels are similar to that of cortisol, except low levels can cause a whole host of additional symptoms and conditions related to sex hormones.
Urinary neurotransmitter testing can reveal imbalances in essential brain chemicals including:
- Serotonin – An inhibitory neurotransmitter and involved in sleep, anxiety, depression, and compulsions.
- Dopamine – An excitatory and inhibitory (depending on the part of the brain) neurotransmitter and involved in addiction, memory, focus, attention, and mood.
- GABA – An inhibitory neurotransmitter and involved in the regulation of Glutamate and relaxation.
- Glutamate – An excitatory neurotransmitter and involved in memory, learning, focus, energy, seizures, and chronic conditions including Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, and dementia.
- Epinephrine – Known as adrenaline, is an excitatory neurotransmitter and hormone, and involved in weight gain, restlessness, anxiety, sleep distrubances, and acute stress.
- Norepinephrine – An excitatory neurotransmitter and involved in attention, focus, energy, anxiety, and connected to benzodiazepine addiction.
How Do We Use It?
Looking at the results of Neuro/Adrenal profiles as part of a comprehensive assessment, that includes health history, blood chemistry, and other diagnostics, directs your health coach to what nutrition, exercise, and stress management changes you need to make. Additionally, specific supplementation targeted at your more significant imbalances often provides for a faster and more sustainable correction of imbalances.
How Do I Test?
Neuro/Adrenal testing is easy and simple. All you have to do is contact our office at 612-886-1874. A short phone coversation can help us choose the best test panel for you. We can send you the test kit in the mail or you can pick it up from our office. When the results come in, we will set up a consultation to discuss the results and lay out a plan to address any imbalances.
